Meet Alison, our Easy Read Transcriber

This month, we’re introducing Alison, one of our Easy Read transcribers, who joined the team in April 2026.

Based in a small hamlet in South Ayrshire, Scotland, Alison works remotely creating Easy Read documents that help make information clearer and more accessible. When she’s not working, you’ll often find her reading, exploring museums, hunting for treasures in charity shops, or adding to her unusual collection of historical items.

We caught up with Alison to learn a little more about her role, what she enjoys about working at A2i, and the surprising collection she keeps at home!

When did you join A2i?
I joined A2i at the end of April, just in time to enjoy the two May bank holidays.

What’s your role?
I am an Easy Read transcriber.

Where are you based?
I work from home as I live in a small hamlet in South Ayrshire, Scotland.

What do you like most about working at A2i?
I like working with like-minded people and enjoy the group discussions about which words and pictures to use.  Everyone has been so friendly since I started.

How would you describe the team vibe in three words?
Hard working, fun and passionate.

What’s your go-to way to start your day?
I wake up to a black coffee made via an old Teasmade and then read the news and attempt Wordle.

What are your interests outside of work?
My first love is reading but I love history and collecting ‘stuff’. I also enjoy museums, the theatre and charity shops.

What’s a random fact about you that you think would surprise people?
I collect old bricks and am a big Tintin fan.
