Introduction

We transcribe documents into alternative formats for people with disabilities. We are looking for someone who can help with admin tasks, including general office admin and support our team in the production and packing of orders.

Job Type: Permanent
Hours: 25 – 37.5 hours/week (times to be agreed within 9am – 5pm Mon – Fri)

Easy Read Transcriber

Introduction

Easy Read is a format for people with learning disabilities. We are looking for someone that has previous experience with creating Easy Read documents. We would provide in-house training in the latest standards and styles.

Job Type: Permanent
Hours: 25 – 37.5 hours/week (times to be agreed within 9am – 5pm Mon – Fri)
Salary: £11.00 / hour (£21,450 pa pro rata)

Easy Read Transcriber - Job Description

Tasks

Easy Read transcription including

  • Condensing large documents into simple summaries
  • Expanding short documents into simple explanations
  • Creation of document from template
  • Selection & insertion of images from library

Braille Maths Transcriber

Introduction

We are looking for someone with experience of mathematical language to train as a Braille Maths Transcriber. All Braille training will be provided in-house. Braille is a code and the Braille Maths Transcriber will need to be able to create the correct code for mathematical equations up to degree level – there is therefore no need to be able to solve equations but instead to be able to understand their structure and create them correctly in the Braille code.

Job Type: fixed term 3 months (possibility of extension to permanent)
Hours: 25 – 37.5 hours/week (times to be agreed within 9am – 5pm Mon – Fri)
Salary: £11.00 / hour (£21,450 pa pro rata)

The Kickstart Scheme is designed to improve employability and the chances of sustained employment for those at risk of long term unemployment in the 16-24-year-old age group. We want to provide some great work experience and skills training, and also hope that a young person will be able to help us improve and modernise our business at the same time.

Introduction

A2i is a small business with a friendly team. We transcribe documents into alternative formats for people with disabilities. We have traditionally produced physical documents such as Braille, Large Print and Audio, but are now moving more into digital services such as Accessible PDFs, Accessible Websites and BSL videos. The way that people communicate and receive information is changing rapidly, including for disabled people. We believe our services are needed more than ever, and we are looking for someone who can help us gain new clients and sell our new services. We need someone who can help with digital marketing, and who is willing to learn. As a small business we can offer an opportunity to be fully involved in the sales and marketing processes and to see the results.

You will receive training in-house and gain experience working in a marketing team. You will be able to try out digital marketing methods and influence marketing strategy and processes.
