A2i’s new staff member – Introducing Elle

Elle joined the A2i team in September 2024.

Elle is originally from Brighton and moved to Bristol when she started Uni in 2019. Before joining our team she was a secondary school teacher and really enjoyed working with children and making a difference in their life.

Since joining, Elle has acquired some new skills in Braille, Large Print and Audio and works behind the scenes and helps make a difference in other people’s lives.

We asked Elle (short for Eleanor) a few questions about her role and what she likes to do outside of work:

What is your role at A2i?

I mainly transcribe documents into Braille, Large Print. Now I am working on audio!

What do you like about working for A2i?

I love how positive the atmosphere is, everyone wants to be helpful all the time. I also love that I get to be ‘behind the scenes’ in creating these formats, as I know how much it is improving people’s lives.

What kind of projects do you enjoy working on the most?

I love working on bigger projects, especially when they’re Braille ones, it’s such a fun thing to get to grips with.

What do you like doing outside of work? Do you have any hobbies?

I love to do improv, I found an amazing theatre that I go to every week. I like to collect wacky jewellery, especially earrings. And you’ll always find me in a bookshop.

What do you like about living in Bristol?

It has always felt like home to me. Despite the fact it’s a city, it feels incredibly warm and friendly. I feel I find so many interesting things to do, and almost not enough time to do them all.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

It is so wonderful to be behind the scenes. I get to transcribe items that help people access information that should be already accessible to them. I love coming into a job knowing I’m making a difference, but I am a quiet part of that difference, which is perfect for me.

Thanks for your time Elle!

We love having you in the team and how you look after our treat cravings on a Friday. Plus it’s always a delight to find out which unusual earrings you are wearing each day.
