Their challenge

As a provider of printed information, Latcham is often required to deliver their clients’ documents in accessible formats. This involves skills and tools that they don’t have in-house, so they need a reliable partner who can produce accurate alternative formats promptly.

With this particular project, Latcham needed to print and deliver their client’s phone bills to visually impaired end users on a monthly basis.

Our solution

We provided the phone bills in two different formats, both relevant for visually impaired people: Braille and Audio CDs.

Much of the style and information on the phone bills was repeated every month so, in order to speed up the transcription process, we set up templates. This enabled us to deliver them to end users much quicker.

For the audio, we were concerned there was a risk of human error with the 10+ digits numbers at the bottom of the bills. So we agreed with Latcham to use digital voice for the monthly bills. We use human voice for other documents, where it is more appropriate.

Our use of templates and digital technology not only allowed us to deliver our services in a more timely manner, but also to reduce the cost to our client, which was very much appreciated.

Latcham’s feedback

“We needed a reliable partner who could accurately convert our clients’ documents into accessible formats – something we simply didn’t have the expertise or tools to handle in-house. When it came to delivering monthly phone bills to visually impaired customers, we required both speed and precision. Our partner’s innovative approach using templates and digital voice technology not only solved our delivery challenges but also reduced costs significantly. The combination of Braille and Audio CD formats, delivered promptly each month, has been exactly what we needed to serve our clients effectively.”
