About Curo

Curo are a housing association and house-builder based in Bath, England. They provide great homes and high-quality care and support services across the West of England. Curo have 13,000 homes, 25,000 customers, and manage and build hundreds of new homes every year. They are one of the largest landlords in the South West of England.

Curo’s mission is to provide great homes, support communities, and improve lives. They aim to deliver renowned customer service and to support independent and successful lives.

The challenge

Curo send written documents to a diverse range of customers. Their readers have various communication needs, and Curo want them all to be able to access their information independently, and in a timely manner.

It is essential that all confidential data is treated appropriately and stored securely. In addition, it is important that documents maintain the Curo brand identity.

A2i’s solution

Someone reading BrailleCuro and A2i first started working together in February 2013. Our initial discussions included decisions about how the Curo branding could be implemented within the guidelines for Braille, large print and audio documents. A2i were also able to reassure Curo with our data security procedures.

To enable Curo to supply documents efficiently and quickly, A2i offers a system where:

1. Curo supply A2i with all documents in their standard electronic format

2. A2i transcribe documents to Braille, Audio and Large Print as needed, then post them directly out to Curo’s customers so they receive them as quickly as possible.

3. A2i translate the remaining documents to the various required languages and transfer them electronically back to Curo to be printed on headed paper and posted.

At first, A2i transcribed the resident magazine ‘Open’ to Braille, Audio, and Large Print quarterly. We produced all formats within 3 working days so Curo’s visually impaired customers received the magazine quickly. This helped Curo’s with their aim of renowned customer service.

Curo and A2i then developed their relationship further and A2i now transcribe personalised documents for Curo, such as letters and rent statements, in Large Print, Audio, Braille and translate into a range of languages. We complete these quarterly, plus on an ad-hoc basis whenever required.

Outcomes and benefits
1) Curo’s customers can stay independent and live longer in their homes, safe in the knowledge that Curo is supporting them.
2) Curo’s customers benefit from top quality documents, received in a timely manner, with Curo branding
