What is a Podcast?

A Podcast is an audio broadcast that is available on the Internet. A Podcast can be played directly from a website, or easily downloaded to a computer or to a personal audio player such as an ipod or mp3 player.

Podcasts that A2i’s customers may want to broadcast are audio magazines, newspapers, prospectuses, educational material and much more. Once they are downloaded by your listeners they can be listened to at any time, and as often as you want.

Five Reasons for having podcasts:

1. Podcasts make your information accessible to blind and visually impaired people, and therefore help you meet the requirements of UK disability legislation, the Disability Discrimination Act.
2. They appeal to, and reach, young people so you could reach a larger audience.
3. Podcasts enable people who are too busy to read your documents to access them whilst travelling etc.
4. They save paper and therefore reduce your environmental impact.
5. There can be a lower production cost, compared to other printing and audio options, as you do not need to produce and distribute multiple copies.
